One of the new 7 wonders of the world, Chichen Itza is the remnants of an ancient Mayan city that was swallowed up by the jungle after Spanish colonisation. Now restored, and populated mainly by tourists and souvenir sellers, it’s worth the approx. 2.5 hour trek from Cancun.
Entry approx US$10.
Just back from a trip to Cancun!!!!
Stopped off in Valladolid on the way to Chichen Itza, grabbed snacks at a street festival for the Day of the Dead.
Churros and ice cream on offer, had a torta, not sure what the meat was but it was spicy and much needed to kill the hunger.
Also had some pretty gross chips and hotdog that were possibly cooked a couple of days’ prior **eugh**
